Life Care Center of the South Shore in Scituate, Massachusetts, hosted its first American Red Cross community blood drive on Dec. 2, 2015.
Thirty-three people showed up to give, and of those, 28 were able to donate. These donations were able to serve up to 84 people in need.
“The Red Cross was extremely pleased for that kind of turnout for our first drive,” said Edward Sperandio, marketing director at Life Care Center of the South Shore. “We wanted to give the gift of life for the holiday season, and members from the community, as well as associates, helped us achieve this! This was a really great thing for us to do as we continue our commitment to not only the community, but our residents.”
Associates hope to make this the first of many community blood drives.
